Can you explain to me the different layouts of the messageboard (Basic and Advanced) that I can choose from?

Movie Forum members can choose between two messageboard layouts - Basic and Advanced. We recommend the Advanced View, and a lot of the links we provide will show that view when you follow them. However if you're new to the concept of reading and writing messages online you might prefer to choose Basic View.

Please take a moment to familiarise yourself with the differences between the two views, as illustrated in the tables below (and on the next page), so you can then select which you'd prefer. However don't worry too much about making a choice, it's easy to change whenever you want - when in the forum just scroll down to the bottom of the message view frame and click the link to toggle between the two views. Prospero are continually adding new features to the messageboard software, so the following lists may not cover them all.

A tick indicates the feature is supported in that view.

A cross indicates that it is not.

Reading	Basic	Advanced
Click through one message at a time in a single Discussion.
Display the messages, in a discussion, in a 'thread' of up to 20 at a time.
"Keep Reading" button to move easily from one discussion to the next.
Mark discussions by rating them as High Interest, Neutral Interest and Ignore. (Discussions you post to are marked High Interest by default)
Adjust Message text size.
Email copy of a message to someone (including your own comment if desired).

Display	Basic	Advanced
Show either Unread messages or All messages.
Select a variety of Display Discussion options (e.g. All High Interest, Unread to Me) rather than just Unread and All.
Mark all Messages as Read (so they won't show up on subsequent visits).
Choice of 'Find Discussion' Options.
See all the Topic Folders regardless of whether there are new/unread messages in them.
See at a glance how many messages are in a Discussion Topic Folder.
See at a glance when the last message to a Discussion was added. Discussions with new messages posted to them today will show the time, older ones will show the date.
Less 'cluttered' looking page (due to lack of options in Basic) including large and easily noticeable, Post New/ Start Reading etc. buttons.
