Labyrinth
The Creatures [and Movie Quotes]
Well at least some of my favourites, most brought alive thanks to the
puppet wizardry of the Jim Henson Creature Workshop. I say "most"
because, as far as we know, David Bowie is not a puppet!
Hoggle
A dwarf, who ends up being Sarah's friend, with a penchant for jewellery
- especially that made of that valuable commodity, plastic. Instructed
by the Goblin King (who seems to have trouble remembering his name -
"Hedgewart", "Higgle", "Hoghead", "Hogbrain") to keep Sarah from her
goal, he instead decides to help her on her journey.
"You've got to understand my position. I'm a coward, and Jareth
scares me."
The Worm
With his fetching blue punk hairdo and his red scarf, this little creature
is the first Sarah meets within the Labyrinth itself.
Sarah: "Did you say hello?"
Worm: "No, I said 'Ello, but that's close enough."
"Things are not always what they seem in this place, so you can't
take anything for granted."
"If she'd kept on going down that way, she'd have gone straight
to that castle."
Jareth, the Goblin King
"You remind me of the babe. (What babe?) The babe with the power.
(What power?) The power of voodoo. (Who do?) You do. (Do what?) Remind
me of the babe."
(To the goblins) "Well, laugh!"
Brownie
Well that's what I'm calling him. The little fella who is very
annoyed when Sarah marks her path out with lipstick on the flagstones.
"Who is writing on the fraggingdy walka walka? Your mother is a
fragging aardvark"

The Four Guards
A quartet of rather odd creatures who seem to be a pair of walking
playing cards.
"The only way out of here is to try one of these doors. One of them
leads to the castle at the centre of the labyrinth, and the other one
to... ba-ba-ba boom CERTAIN DEATH!"
The Tunnel of Hands
Amazing that something as simple as puppeteers wearing gnarled latex
gloves, and making talking "faces" with their hands, could be so memorable
- but it is.
"What do you mean 'help'? We are helping! We're helping hands."
"She chose down!!!" [More
