Charles Gray
Born: 29 August, 1928
Died: 7th March, 2000
Country: UK
Occupation: Actor
The British actor Charles Gray, best known to movie fans for his role
as Ernst Blofeld in the 1971 Bond film Diamonds are Forever,
died at London's Brompton hospital aged 71.
His distinctive voice and self-satisfied manner made him the ideal
"bad guy", even when he wasn't cast in such a role his characters always
seemed to be up to something, and not quite what they seemed.
As well as his Bond roles (Gray also played Bond's Japanese contact,
Henderson, in 1967's You Only Live Twice) his other cinematic
claims to fame included the role of the Criminologist in The Rocky
Horror Picture Show (1975) and providing the on-screen voice for
the actor Jack Hawkins in several films after Hawkins lost his
voice through cancer of the larynx.
