Rutger Hauer
Movie Picks cont
Crossworlds (1996) : Rutger does sci-fi in what could have been
a dire Star Wars® spoof, but ends up as, although albeit somewhat
of a homage, a quirky and cool coming-of-age story in its own right.
Rutger plays the mentor figure, but avoids being Obi-Wan Kenobi by a
long way. His character is more Darth Vader in a relatively good mood
and addicted to coffee.
The Hitcher (1986) : Sit back, hold on tight and learn the lesson:
NEVER pick up a hitchhiker! Probably one of the best, although underrated,
horror movies ever made. The film is a nightmare blend of banal reality
and the things you hope aren't waiting for you when you walk down a
dark street. Rutger plays the chief nightmare in C. Thomas Howell's
world and he truly seems like something surreal.

Split Second (1992) : You could look at this and denounce it
as the worst film ever made, but if you do that, you're obviously not
looking at it in the right way. Admittedly it's a straight-to-video
flick all the way and has the dodgiest monster ever, but through the
bottom of a glass of Pepsi, it isn't half bad. No film could be, with
a lead character coming from Lochgilphead! Rutger wins the award for
making the best out of a bad character.
Whether you're a fan of Rutger Hauer or not, we'd love to hear what
you have to say on the man and his movies.
Perhaps you agree with MovieForum member MOMMYESTES who said
:
" I would enjoy
Rutger if all he did was sit on toast "
